Singing Classes

Terms & Conditions of Booking

Welcome to our singing circle!

I very hope that you are going to enjoy singing with us. Please read the following guidelines which define the structure of the class and help us keep the space safe for everyone:

This class is focused on wellbeing and emotions are welcome to be shared, as long as this can be done with respect to all. The tutor will give guidance for sharing time and frame to make sure it is balanced with singing time.

Please respect the class space by arriving on time and by not interrupting a class that is already running:

- Monday group: 6:40 to 6:50pm

- Thursday group: 10:00 to 10:20am

Please kindly keep your phone on Airplane mode throughout the sessions, as your tutor is electro-sensitive, and only switch your phone on once outside the building. Recording of songs is fine as long as Airplane mode is kept on.

Your tutor's Assistance Dog will be present in most of the classes. He is very friendly, but quite young and still in training so can be a bit enthusiastic about greeting people. To help with his training please ignore him when you first arrive, do not talk to him or pet him so that he learns to settle down. During break time there is a dedicated space for him to say hello to those who wish.

Unfortunately we are not able to accept pets in this class, only officially registered Assistance or Guide dogs. If you need to bring an Assistance or Guide dog with you please contact me beforehand so that we can discuss a plan for managing both dogs.

Keen children who can follow the format of the class are welcome under the supervision of a participating adult, and they are under their guardian's responsibility at all times.

After your free taster session, attendance for both adults and children is paid for in advance per term of classes (usually 5 classes). Tickets are not refundable even if you don't attend all the sessions.

By attending the class you agree to participate in good will, with the understanding that you are sole responsible for looking after your own health and safety at all times, for respecting other people's health and safety too - this is physically, emotionally and mentally – and for respecting the premises. You are also responsible for your own belongings.

The group occasionally sings in public places or private establishments, and if you attend those sessions you remain responsible for the same, as well as for your actions or interactions with non-members of the group.

The tutor cannot take responsibility or accept any liability in the event of any loss, damage, injury or death occuring to yourself, your children, or your belongings during the class, regardless of where the session is taking place.

Please do not consume any substances that may affect your consciousness or self-control before or during the class (i.e. no drugs or alcohol). Please talk to the tutor if you are on prescripted drugs that may affect your ability to control yourself or to look after yourself.

We reserve the right to refuse entry (or ask people to leave) in case of aggression (whether physical, verbal or emotional), if there is a concern for anyone's safety or if we think substances have been used. Please note that this includes verbal attacks and emotional harrassment. We may call relevant authorities where we feel the need to – including to protect your own health & safety.

Your tutor can offer some support for needs and requests to the best of their abilities and of what is appropriate in the class, so please don't hesitate to ask!

There may be some that we cannot help with or cater for, and we will always tell you in all honesty what needs or wishes we can or cannot meet, and observe confidentiality.

Please do speak up and don't assume that the tutor or other people can guess your specific needs.

If we are unable to meet your needs we will try and help with suggestions as to where you might find another suitable activity or adequate support, however this is not something we can take responsibility for.

Your tutor is responsible for holding the teaching space of the class and for keeping the balance between individual needs and the format of the group. Please respect their work and treat them kindly even if all your wishes may not be met.

Your tutor is not responsible for supporting students outside the class, whether at home or on the way to the venue, during parking etc. Students must be able to be independent, or have their own support, outside of the class. Displaying proof of payment for parking is your responsibility wherever applicable.

If you need extra support during the class to keep yourself safe you are very welcome to bring a carer or support person with you.

We do understand that personal circumstances may be tough and that not everyone has access to the support they need. But unfortunately this is not a void we can bridge within the format of a singing class, and in order to keep everyone safe class boundaries will apply to all.

I need your email address in order to send you info about the class and I do use group emails. These are normally blind copies but as accidents can happen, please give me an email address that you are relaxed to share with others! You will need to check it regularly for important updates as well as for course material.

We also have a group on the Signal app (optional) for last minute notices and shared files (for examples recordings of our singing or links to songs we are learning), I will give more info about it during the first class of term.

As I am not able to be on email every day, and never on the morning before running the class, I will need your phone number to let you know of any last minute cancellation or change of plan.

This class is privately run and your details will be registered with Marie Free (Horse & Heart). I need to store them for insurance purposes, however I do not pass them on to anyone and they are only ever accessible to a co-tutor / staff working with me on this course.

Thank you for joining us and I hope you will enjoy it!
